We kindly request those participants who are applying for travel grant not to pay the registration fee, as they will be exempt from this fee if their application is positively evaluated.

FEBS Travel Grants

FEBS Youth Travel (YTF) Fund Grants support participation at FEBS Advanced Courses of PhD students and postdoctoral scientists from the FEBS area (countries with a FEBS Constituent Society).

In addition, IUBMB Transcontinental Youth Travel Fund (Trans-YTF) Grants may be offered by some FEBS Advanced Courses as a result of support from the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), for participation of scientists from outside the FEBS area in these courses.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for FEBS YTF Grants and IUBMB Trans-YTF Grants are as follows, and only in exceptional circumstances may any of these conditions be waived.

For FEBS YTF Grant applicants:

  • The applicant should not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society (i.e., within the FEBS area) or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society.
  • The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society and must provide evidence of membership.
  • The applicant must not have received a grant from FEBS to attend a FEBS AC in the current year or previous year, nor a bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum (FEBS YSF) in the current year.
  • The applicant cannot be a resident of the country where the course will be held.
  • Young scientists from the organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for FEBS YTF Grants.
  • The total number of meeting awards the applicant has previously received from FEBS (FEBS Congress bursary, FEBS YSF grant, and FEBS YTF award for previous FEBS AC) may also be taken into consideration in the selection.

For IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant applicants:

  • The IUBMB Trans-YTF Grant awardee should work and have current residence in a country that has an IUBMB-adhering body but does not have a FEBS Constituent Society (i.e., outside the FEBS area).
  • The applicant should not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society, or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society.
  • The applicant must be a member of an IUBMB-adhering body and must provide evidence of membership.
  • The applicant should not have received a grant from FEBS to attend a FEBS AC in the current year or previous year, nor a bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year.
  • Awards will only be made to support travel from the applicant’s current country of residence to the country hosting the FEBS AC. The applicant must have resided in their country of residence for at least six months before applying for the grant.
  • Young scientists from the organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for IUBMB Trans-YTF Grants.

Applicants must first submit register in the online database of the event. Please note that you have to select a registration category in order to be able to apply for a grant. Please do not issue the payment for the registration before you receive the decision about the grant application.  In addition, the FEBS YTF applicants should send the completed application (including CV, Motivation letter etc.) together with documented proof of their eligibility and a recommendation letter from the current or previous supervisor (if applicable) by e-mail:

Hungarian Genetics Society /MAGE/ Grant

We are delighted to extend an invitation for grant applications on behalf of the Hungarian Genetics Society. 

Grant Details:
Successful applicants will have their full registration fee covered by MAGE - Hungarian Genetics Society

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants for the grant are required to submit a CV and a Letter of Intent as part of the application process. In this letter, candidates should articulate their motivation for applying and demonstrate how they plan to integrate topics related to epigenetics into their current research. The letter should highlight the following points:

 - A brief overview of the applicant's current research and its relevance to the field.
 - Specific reasons for seeking the grant.
 - How attendance at the conference aligns with the applicant's professional and research goals.
 - The applicant's vision for incorporating epigenetic concepts into their work.

The Letter of Intent should not exceed 1 page and must be submitted along with the CV till 15 May 2026. This document plays a crucial role in the evaluation process, allowing the review committee to assess the applicant's commitment to the field and the potential impact of their attendance at the conference.
