Guidelines for Presenters

We kindly ask all presenters to read the following guidelines carefully and prepare their presentations accordingly.

IMPORTANT – Presentation Upload

We strongly recommend that speakers do not use their own laptops for their presentations. Connecting and switching between individual laptops may cause technical delays and compatibility issues during the sessions.

Please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive and upload it to the presentation computer in the lecture hall well in advance, and no later than during the break preceding your session.

A technician will be available in the lecture hall to assist you with uploading and checking your presentation.

Invited Lectures

Invited Lectures are allocated a total of 25 minutes:

  • 20 minutes for the presentation

  • 5 minutes for questions and discussion

Please keep strictly to the allocated time to ensure that the scientific programme runs according to schedule.

Should the duration of an individual Invited Lecture differ from the standard 30-minute format, this will be clearly indicated in the scientific programme.

Invited speakers are kindly requested to upload their presentation to the lecture hall computer in advance, following the instructions above.

Short Oral Presentations

Short Oral Presentations are allocated a total of 15 minutes:

  • 12 minutes for the presentation

  • 3 minutes for questions and discussion

Please prepare your talk carefully to fit within the allocated time. Session Chairs will be asked to keep strictly to the programme schedule, so presentations exceeding the 12-minute speaking time may need to be stopped to ensure sufficient time for discussion and to avoid delays in the programme.

Please upload your presentation to the lecture hall computer no later than during the break preceding your session.

Flash Talks

Flash Talks provide an opportunity to highlight the key message of your work and introduce your poster to the conference audience.

Each Flash Talk is strictly limited to:

  • 3 minutes

  • maximum 3 slides

  • no questions or discussion

Please focus on the key message of your research and use the Flash Talk as a brief introduction to the work presented in your poster.

Your slides must be uploaded to the lecture hall computer in advance, and no later than during the break preceding the Flash Talk session.

Presenters selected for a Flash Talk are also invited to display the corresponding poster during the Poster Sessions.

Poster Presentations

The recommended poster size is A0 portrait format (84 × 119 cm). Posters must be displayed in portrait orientation.

Poster boards will be identified by poster numbers corresponding to those indicated in the final scientific programme.

Pins will be provided by the organisers for mounting posters.

Poster Sessions

There will be two dedicated Poster Sessions:

  • 20 October – Poster Session I: even-numbered posters

  • 21 October – Poster Session II: odd-numbered posters

Presenters are kindly requested to be at their posters during their assigned Poster Session to discuss their work with participants.

Poster mounting and removal

Posters may be mounted from 15:00 on 19 October and may remain on display throughout the conference.

All posters must be removed from the poster boards by 12:00 on 22 October at the latest.

We kindly ask presenters to remove their posters from the boards even if they do not wish to take them home. In this case, please remove the poster yourself and leave it with the organisers at the Registration Desk.
